The date is March 26th, 1976. The very first personal computer conference attracts visionaries, hackers, hobbyists, salespeople, and entrepreneurs. Nobody takes 20 year- old Bill Gates seriously. He looks likes he's sixteen, demands everyone stop sharing his software, and thinks he knows everything. A lot of people want him to take a hike. He wants to take over the world. FIRST is a fictional retelling of the extraordinary people and events that launched the personal computer revolution.

FIRST was commissioned and developed by PlayGround (James A. Kleinmann, Artistic Director,) and given a staged reading at the Best Of PlayGround Festival in May of 2012. Michael French directs the World Premiere in San Francisco this fall.
